| Need help with Oklahoma baby snake identification? I live in a wooded area in rural Oklahoma (Green Country). Today I was mowing and came upon several 3-4 inch long baby snakes of a dark dirt color--seems everywhere I mowed. I know they must be poisonous as noticed the diamond shaped head right away even though so little. I have seen these around for several yrs and always thought they were baby copperheads, however on looking at some pics online, baby copperheads are supposed to have a yellow tail and these r all solid dark dirt brown color. One could easily mistake them for a nice juicy worm. We have pygmy rattlers and black snakes out here also. Any ideas??? TYVM! |
